Homeopathic alternatives

Certain homeopathic remedies are prepared in great dilution from tissues infected with a particular bacterium or virus. Termed nosodes, they have used in some cases to help prevent infection eg cholera nosode.

Alternatively a remedy may be used preventively which would be used to treat the illness in question eg china for malaria. Whilst the value of homeopathic remedies in the treatment of disease is well established, their value in the prevention of specific disease is not well documented. More research needs to be done to check that travellers who have found them to be effective have actually been exposed to the particular disease.
