Is concentration all in the mind

BrainConcentration or attention issues can affect a large number of people. Sometimes poor concentration is categorised as attention deficit disorder depending on the degree of severity. When people are affected by an under-performing cerebellum they generally experience overload in the brain’s processing capacity, which makes it very difficult for them to maintain focus and very often they become easily distracted.

Poor concentration is a common symptom of learning and attention disorders and this can lead to self-esteem issues as those affected are often labelled as

lazy.
Many of those affected actually have to work harder than anyone else just to maintain concentration.

Many of these problems can be helped by the power of suggestion also known as hypnotherapywhich can be used to increase learning ability and self esteem issues.

Reducing diabetes risk with pulses

A new study from the American Journal of Nutrition examined over 64,000 women and found that those who regularly ate pulses could reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 40%.
In particular they found lentils to be the pulse of choice – a serving at one meal can halve the rise in blood sugar at the next meal.

Pulses include all varieties of peas, beans and lentils and should be eaten 3-4 times a week.

They also have the following benefits:
• High in fibre
• Low in cholesterol and fat
• Release energy slowly
• Good source of protein

Cholesterol and the menopause

_blood_cellsCardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the main causes of death worldwide. This condition is usually viewed as a predominantly male problem. However high cholesterol and blood pressure are significant contributing factors to heart disease and stroke amongst post-menopausal women. Cholesterol tends to increase at the menopause due to hormonal changes, mainly the decrease in oestrogen production.
During the menopause the distribution of body fat shifts from the lower body (pear shape) to the upper body (apple shape) which associated with an increase in CVD. Not only is there an increase in total cholesterol but levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) increase by 10-20%

Mitochondria?

Istock_000003875987xsmallMitochondria are the power stations of your body. They are in most of your cells and produce energy for all actions in your body. Exercise has direct results on how many mitochondria there are in each cell, especially muscle cells. Basically the more exercise you do, the more mitochondria you have, the more energy you have available so you can achieve so much more during the day. This process is more commonly known as METABOLISM. You can find out more from David Brownley, Personal Trainer at the Fitness works.

Herbs for Hypertension

Istock_000000264016xsmallHypertension is high blood pressure. When blood pressure is measured it is given two numbers and normal blood pressure is around 120/80.

Anything over 140/100 is considered to high. Many factors such as stress, smoking, weight problems, excess coffee and alcohol, and high cholesterol are all considered to affect blood pressure. Any programme to reduce blood pressure will always look at lifestyle and diet factors.

What treatments could help tennis elbow?

A herbalist can prescribe a mixture of herbs that can give relief. These will be a combination of anti inflammatory and analgesic herbs but in the long term the use of herbs that take the fluid away and boost the circulation to that area along with diuretics will help to extend the periods between flare up until hopefully a more stable condition is reached.

Exercise
can be effective to reduce the long term effects of tennis elbow. It works by increasing the strength of the muscles in the upper wrist and bicep to stabalize the joint whilst it is being used. Doing low resistance, high repetition exercises on these muscles groups increase blood flow, speeds up the healing process and reduces fluid on the joint. Marry was 45 and had taken her driving test seven times over the years and had decided that if she failed this one she would give up driving. Working with Mary and redressing her pass failures boosting her confidence through various visualisation techniques to such a degree that in her mind she had seen herself passing her driving test over and over again she was able to take her next test and pass with flying colours.
This was achieved by Douglas Craddock's therapeutic skills in hypnotherapy.

Help and advice on Stuttering

Alan aged 36 came to see Douglas Craddock to help with his stutter. He was looking for promotion in his work which meant that he would have to from time to time deliver briefings to staff members or more senior managers within the company he worked in. Even though his stutter was not as noticeable at times, at other times it could be quite severe. Sessions one was to be an exploratory session to see if we could establish where the stutter originated, and during this session Alan was able to recall without stuttering the true origin of his problem.

Cancer patients improve from receiving colon hydrtherapy

I have found over the years that cancer patients who are not doing well usually are toxic and not being cleansed. They certainly are in need of colon hydrotherapy, advisers oncologist and homeopath Douglas Brodie,MD of Reno, Nevada Dr Brodie has developed CAM methods for treating cancer and other degenerative diseases aimed at strengthening the immune system.
He emphasizes natural approaches to these conditions with colon hydrotherapy being among them.

I do recommend that most of my cancer patients take colon hydrotherapy or colonic irrigations because they often improve by having such treatment. Liver cancer in particular shows benefit from colon hydrotherapy, but any internal tumors show effectual change too, Dr Brodie says Its better than a enema which is merely a lower bowel cleanse, as opposed to a colonic which is a through cleanse of the entire bowel. Its similar to comparing the diagnostic efficacy of a sigmoidoscopy of the short end of the bowel to a colonoscopy which takes in the whole bowel.

A enema only goes so far. Colon hydrotherapy is the est cleansing and detoxifier for the gastrointestinal tract that anybody would want. I do promote its use.

accupuncture and EFT have the same principels

EFT is based on the principles of acupuncture and works on the fact that negative emotional experiences disrupt the energy meridians that run through our body. Often hidden in our unconscious, these unresolved emotions can be experienced as disease, anxiety, low energy levels, pain and depression. This simple procedure involves tapping acupressure points on the body whilst addressing the emotion or problem to be treated.

Properly applied, this non-invasive, gentle approach safely eliminates the energy disruption, thereby neutralising the negative feelings without the need to re-live them. One is left with an old, neutral memory which exerts no negative effect on the mind/body system and in many cases the physical discomfort disappears.

EFT has shown impressive improvements in a wide variety of issues, including phobias, allergies, migraines, ME, addictions, weight loss, depression, blocks to success and children’s issues.

Amanda Kinané is a trained physiotherapist and has had a keen interest in personal development and the roots of ill health and stress since early teens. She has found using NLP, EFT and TAT™ (Tapas Acupressure Technique) to be some of the most powerful tools available today for addressing and resolving limits to good health and personal performance.

Her specialities include pregnancy and children’s issues, stress and anxiety, and personal performance (smoking cessation, weight loss and blocks to success).

She holds individual sessions, group sessions and workshops
